Western Sydney University, formerly the University of Western Sydney, is an Australian public multi-campus university in the Greater Western region of Sydney. It is a provider of undergraduate, postgraduate and higher research degrees with campuses in Bankstown, Blacktown, Campbelltown, Hawkesbury, Parramatta, and Penrith.

Undergraduate programs at UWS aim to give students the edge in their chosen career. Special programs are in place linking students to industry and employers, as well as international study opportunities. To support undergraduate students through their studies, a range of university scholarships are available. Students who have a suitable academic record for previous studies can apply for honours degree.

Western Sydney University has everything in place to help overseas students adjust to their new life. Starting with its pre-departure support service, students are thoroughly prepared before they come to Australia. For students who wish to bring family members along, the university also offers advice on this matter.

UWS offers a wide range of on-campus accommodation that gives students a rich and balanced living and learning environment. The university provides new students with free airport reception upon their arrival. In preparation for their life in Australia, UWS schedules orientations for students. Student advisors and an after-hours assistance line are also available if international students need any help. International student scholarships are also granted to eligible students both for undergraduate and postgraduate studies.

The annual undergraduate tuition fees are $24,280 for business courses, $22,680 for Arts/Education, and $28,520 for Engineering/Science.

UWS has available scholarships that are accessible to all types of students. These scholarships are offered in the undergraduate, honours, postgraduate coursework and research degrees. Students who have good academic standing may apply for the academic excellence scholarship which supports students for up to 4 years. Other scholarships in the same category include the vice-chancellor’s and dean’s scholarships.

International scholarships are also on offer for students. Examples are the Australia awards scholarship and endeavour postgraduate scholarship. External scholarships are also available at UWS. The university helps students choose from scholarships which are offered by the Australian government, private organizations and partner industries.

Other Details Professor Peter Shergold AC joined Western Sydney University in 2011 as Chancellor after a distinguished academic and public service career. As the former secretary for the Department of Education and Chair of the National Centre for Vocational Education Research the Chancellor is passionate about widening access to quality tertiary education and believes the University is realising this mission through the provision of scholarships. The Chancellor's Scholarship has been established to provide opportunity and encouragement to those students who might not otherwise have the chance to study at University because of financial hardship or other circumstances.
Honours Scholarship
Total Worth $5,000 for one year
Eligibility and Requirements Applicants must: be Australian citizens, permanent residents of Australia or International fee-paying student have maintained a minimum GPA of 5.5 (credit plus average) be applying to study full-time in a Bachelor Honours program OR be currently undertaking a Bachelor Honours program full-time Students who are transferring from another University to undertake a Bachelor Honours program are encouraged to apply.

Other Details The Honours Scholarship provides opportunities for exceptional students who have demonstrated academic excellence in their studies, and are either undertaking or intending to commence their Bachelor Honours year. This includes year long embedded honours programs.
Sports Scholarship

Applicants must: be Australian citizens or permanent residents of Australia be applying for or currently enrolled in any undergraduate or postgraduate degree at the University be an athlete competing at a state or national (school, age and/or open) championship level who is recognised by the relevant national sporting body as elite or in possession of development potential

Other Details Western Sydney University Connect offers sports scholarships to students either entering or continuing an undergraduate or postgraduate course. The University is a member of the Australian Sports Commission's Elite Athlete Friendly University (EAFU) Network. This Elite Athlete support program is aimed at providing support to athletes to balance their sporting and academic commitments whilst at the University. Scholarship recipients will also receive financial assistance and have access to modern fitness facilities, academic counselling, personal development seminars, academic support and liaison, networking links and other opportunities.
