Queen’s University Belfast (informally Queen’s or QUB) is a public research university in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The university was chartered in 1845, and opened in 1849 as “Queen’s College, Belfast”. It offers academic degrees at various levels and across a broad subject range, with over 300 degree programmes available. Queen’s is a member of the Russell Group of leading research intensive universities, the Association of Commonwealth Universities, the European University Association, Universities Ireland and Universities UK. The university is associated with two Nobel laureates and one Turing Award laureate.
In addition to the main campus on the southern fringes of Belfast city centre, the university has two associated university colleges, St Mary’s and Stranmillis located in the west and south-west of the city respectively. Queen’s is organised into fifteen schools across three faculties: the Faculty of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences, the Faculty of Engineering & Physical Sciences and the Faculty of Medicine, Health & Life Sciences.
The Times Higher Education rankings 2018 placed Queen’s 32nd out of 93 in the UK. In the 2018 QS World University Rankings, Queen’s was ranked 202. In the National Student Survey 2013, Queen’s was ranked 12th in the UK for student satisfaction.

Students must apply through UCAS making Queen's University Belfast their Firm Choice and enrol in 2019. Scholarships exclude students applying for Medicine, Dentistry, and to the Queen’s colleges at Stranmillis and St. Mary’s. Scholarships exclude students offered a place during UCAS Clearing and Adjustment. Students must achieve a minimum of AAB grades at A-level or equivalent in other qualifications (as determined by the Admissions and Access Service) to qualify for a Band 1 scholarship. Eligibility and Requirements | To qualify for an asylum-seeker scholarship, students must first apply for, and receive an offer of admission for 2019 entry to an undergraduate degree programme at Queen’s University Belfast and meet the eligibility criteria below: Candidates must be registered asylum seekers in the UK and must be currently resident in Northern Ireland, to be considered for this scheme You must have discretionary or limited leave to remain in the UK, be a dependant of someone with discretionary or limited leave to remain as a result of an application for refugee-status, or you or your parent/guardian have submitted an asylum application and not yet received a decision from the Home Office on that application. You must be unable to access mainstream UK student funding due to your immigration status i.e. you are not eligible for Student Finance for the 2019/20 academic year. You must submit an application for a place of study on a full-time undergraduate course starting in the academic year 2019-20 at Queen’s University Belfast through UCAS by 15-January. You must hold a conditional or unconditional offer or have ‘decision pending’ status from Queen’s University Belfast by 01 April 2019. Students must be self-funded. Students in receipt of full funding from external sponsorship bodies will not be eligible for the Queen’s Undergraduate Scholarship.
