Overview
The University of East Anglia (UEA) is a public research university in Norwich, England. Established in 1963 on a 320 acres (130 hectares) campus west of the city centre, the university has four faculties and 26 schools of study. The annual income of the institution for 2016–17 was £273.7 million of which £35.6 million was from research grants and contracts, with an expenditure of £262.6 million.
The university is ranked 13th in the UK by The Times and Sunday Times, 14th by The Complete University Guide and 18th by The Guardian.
The postgraduate master of arts in creative writing, founded by Sir Malcolm Bradbury and Sir Angus Wilson in 1970, is regarded as the most respected in the United Kingdom, and admission to the programme is competitive. The course has gone on to produce a number of distinguished authors, including Sir Kazuo Ishiguro, Ian McEwan, Anne Enright, Tash Aw, Andrew Miller, Owen Sheers, Tracy Chevalier, Trezza Azzopardi, Panos Karnezis and Suzannah Dunn. The German émigré novelist W. G. Sebald also taught in the School of Literature and Creative Writing, and founded the British Centre for Literary Translation, until his death in a car accident in 2001. Experimental novelist Alan Burns was the university’s first writer-in-residence.
The Climatic Research Unit, founded in 1972 by Hubert Lamb in the School of Environmental Sciences, has been an early centre of work for climate change research. Publications include the recent 2008 Climatic Research Unit study on anthropogenic polar warming. The school was also stated to be “the strongest in the world” by the chief scientific adviser to the UK government, Sir David King, during a lecture at the John Innes Centre in 2005.

The scholarship includes bespoke financial plan, support workshops e.g. training plans, injury prevention, sports psychology, managing media, dietary & nutrition. | Other Details | The purpose of the scholarships are to support musicians of high standard who are willing to contribute significantly to the musical life of the University. The scholarships are intended for musicians of any instrument or voice and any style or tradition – including different national traditions - who can demonstrate an excellent standard of performance allied to a plan for enriching the musical life of the University. It is expected that a major part of the contribution made by the holder of an award will be to play or sing in University ensembles relevant to their voice or instrument, and to be a leading member of those ensembles demonstrating commitment and encouraging others. Those for whom no ensemble is appropriate will be expected to devise and demonstrate ways of contributing to the musical life of the university. Other ways of contributing to musical life might be to form new ensembles, to organise concerts, to become involved in running existing ensembles as a committee member, to be available to perform at University functions and to offer solo and chamber music. |
